In re Hagedorn

Attorney Donna Hagedorn (defendant), hired to handle a couple's private adoption, never informed them that a pre-placement evaluation and post-placement supervision were legally required, and did not file the adoption petition until the child was two years old. Along the way, she falsely told the couple that the birth mother's parental rights had been terminated and that the court had lost a home study, neither of which was true, before the couple fired her when the child was 27 months old.
