In re Glass
Supreme Court of California
316 P.3d 1199 (2014)
Glass (plaintiff), a journalist attending law school at night, became notorious for fabricating facts and sources in published articles and engaging in elaborate efforts to cover up the fabrications once confronted; he later withdrew an incomplete New York bar application after learning he would fail moral character review, and years afterward, while working as a law clerk, applied for California bar licensure, disclosing during that process additional omissions from his New York application and further previously unidentified fabrications.
Whether an applicant for bar licensure whose past misconduct demonstrates dishonesty bears the burden of proving present moral fitness to engage in the practice of law.
