Worthley v. Worthley

A New Jersey court ordered the husband (defendant) to pay weekly support to the wife (plaintiff); he complied for a year before leaving the state. Years later, the wife sued him in California, where he'd relocated, seeking to establish the New Jersey decree as a California judgment, recover arrears, and continue future support. The California court declined to enforce the decree.

Whether a modifiable decree of support or alimony is enforceable only in the forum that issued the decree.
