Wickham & Burton Coal Co. v. Farmers' Lumber Co.

Wickham & Burton Coal (plaintiff) orally agreed to supply Farmers' Lumber (defendant) all the coal it required at a set price. When Farmers' had to buy coal on the open market at a higher price, it counterclaimed against Wickham for the price difference; the trial court entered judgment for Wickham, and Farmers' appealed.

Whether a sale contract is enforceable when the only obligation is that the seller must supply whatever the buyer requires, without the buyer promising to purchase anything.
