United States v. Farraj
United States District Court for the Southern District of New York
142 F. Supp. 2d 484 (2001)
Said Farraj (defendant), a paralegal at a law firm representing plaintiffs in a tobacco class action, allegedly emailed an 80-page excerpt of the firm's confidential 400-page trial plan to opposing counsel and negotiated with an undercover FBI agent to sell the full plan for $2,000,000; his brother was arrested attempting to collect payment and implicated Farraj. Farraj was charged with interstate transportation of stolen property and moved to dismiss, arguing the electronic trial plan was not a 'good' within the meaning of the criminal statute.
