Travelers Fire Insurance Co. v. Wright

J.B. Wright, charged with arson for burning his own property, and his partner J.C. Wright (plaintiffs) sued Travelers (defendant) to recover fire insurance proceeds; Travelers sought to introduce testimony from two witnesses who testified at J.B.'s criminal trial that he arranged the burning himself, but those witnesses claimed Fifth Amendment privilege and were unavailable for the civil trial, and the trial court excluded the testimony and ruled for both Wrights.
