Specht v. Google, Inc.

Specht (plaintiff) effectively wound down his company ADC and its "Android Data" trademark by the end of 2002, with only unsuccessful sale attempts and a non-commercial website persisting afterward, before finally trying to revive the mark in 2007 -- after Google (defendant) acquired Android, Inc. in 2005 and released its Android operating system in November 2007; the district court found Specht had abandoned the mark and granted Google summary judgment, cancelling Specht's registration.
