Ross (defendant) knocked on Henley's door under the pretext of asking for directions, then pointed a gun at her, ordered her to undress, and shoved her onto her couch. When Henley pleaded that her young daughter would be home soon, Ross told her he wouldn't harm a woman with a young child, let her walk outside, and fled without assaulting her further. He was convicted of attempted rape and sentenced to ten years, and he appealed.
