Robins Dry Dock & Repair Co. v. Flint

United States Supreme Court

275 U.S. 303 (1927)

Relevant factsFree

Flint (plaintiff) chartered a boat from its owners, and when a propeller broke, the owners hired Robins Dry Dock & Repair Co. (Robins) (defendant) to replace it; a Robins employee negligently dropped the new propeller, forcing another to be made and causing a two-week delay during which Flint couldn't use the boat and lost money. Flint sued Robins directly to recover those economic losses, and the trial court and court of appeals both ruled for Flint.
