Reimer v. Badger Wholesale Co., Inc.
Court of Appeals of Wisconsin
433 N.W.2d 592 (1988)
Dennis Reimer (plaintiff) left a $350-a-week sales job in Missouri after Badger Wholesale Company (defendant) offered him minimum wage plus commission and an exclusive Wisconsin sales territory with room to expand. Reimer moved his family to Wisconsin for the job, but Badger gave part of his promised territory to other salespeople and refused to let him expand. Badger fired Reimer after only 17 days. Reimer sued for breach of contract, seeking his lost income, moving costs, and other expenses, and a jury awarded him $16,500. Badger appealed, arguing Reimer could recover only what he would have earned had he stayed employed there.
