A Danish diplomatic representative asked Norway's Minister of Foreign Affairs about Norway's intentions toward Eastern Greenland, and the Minister replied that Norway did not intend to contest Danish sovereignty over the whole of Greenland; Denmark later sued Norway before the Court, alleging Norway had violated Danish sovereignty there.
