Lane v. Kindercare Learning Centers, Inc.

Lane (plaintiff) enrolled her toddler at Kindercare (defendant), which put the child down for a nap and then forgot about her, locking up and turning off the lights for the evening without ever giving her prescribed medication; a police officer had to break a window to retrieve the sleeping child after Lane found the facility locked and dark. Lane sued for breach of contract and emotional-distress damages, and the trial court granted Kindercare summary judgment.
