In re Jordan Schiff
Supreme Court of New York
Docket No. HP 22/92 (1993)
During a client deposition, attorney Jordan Schiff (defendant) lost his temper toward Mark, the female attorney conducting it, and walked out; senior partner Yankowitz then shouted intimidating, derogatory remarks at Mark, after which Schiff returned and directed vulgar, gender-biased insults at her, some documented on the record via Mark's objections and others witnessed off the record by the court reporter. Despite prior court-ordered sanctions against Schiff's firm and an order that Schiff apologize, evidence at his disciplinary hearing showed he had sexually harassed a female attorney on at least one other occasion.
Whether engaging in sexual harassment during the practice of law violates the rules of professional conduct.
