DeFunis v. Odegaard

DeFunis (plaintiff) sued the University of Washington Law School (defendant), alleging its admissions policy discriminated against him based on race; a state court ordered his admission, and though the Washington Supreme Court reversed, that judgment was stayed pending his appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, by which time DeFunis was in his final term and the University agreed his registration would not be canceled regardless of the outcome.
