Camacho v. Major League Baseball
United States District Court for the Southern District of California
297 F.R.D. 457 (2013)
Pesqueira and his agent Camacho (plaintiffs) sued MLB (defendant), alleging MLB conspired with the Mexican League to block Pesqueira from playing for the Red Sox and seeking a ruling that Pesqueira's contracts with his Mexican League team, the Red Devils, and the league itself were invalid; MLB moved to dismiss for failure to join the Red Devils and the Mexican League, arguing those parties were necessary and indispensable but could not be joined without destroying the court's jurisdiction.
Whether a suit must be dismissed under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 19 for failure to join a necessary and indispensable party whose joinder is not feasible because it would destroy the court's jurisdiction.
