Bohrmann v. Maine Yankee Atomic Power Co.
United States District Court for the District of Maine
926 F. Supp. 211 (D. Me. 1996)
Relevant factsFree
Bohrmann and other chemistry students (plaintiffs) toured Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company's (defendant) plant. Two weeks earlier a radioactive-gas leak had occurred, and repairs-flushing hot spots in the demineralizer, which the company knew would release radioactive gas-were conducted during the tour. The students tested positive for radiation exposure afterward, and Bohrmann suffered a significant drop in his white blood-cell count. They sued for battery; the company responded that it had complied with federal nuclear-safety standards.
IssueFree
Whether the plaintiffs proved every element of battery sufficient to recover damages.
