Acuna v. Brown & Root Inc.

Crecension Acuna and other plaintiffs sued Brown & Root Inc. (defendant) for personal injuries and property damage from uranium mining and processing. Pre-discovery ('Lone Pine') orders required each plaintiff to detail their injuries, their exposure, and the basis for believing the defendants were responsible. The plaintiffs' general affidavits failed to meet those requirements, and their cases were dismissed.

Whether a discovery order requiring plaintiffs to provide detailed information they should already possess before filing suit is an abuse of discretion.
